Buffalo Through Their Eyes 2012

Gala Reception and Fundraiser for Journey's End Refugee Services, Inc.

Thursday, October 4, from 6-9 p.m.

Tickets are $30 in advance / $35 at the door and can be purchased online at jersbuffalo.org

CEPA Gallery has been proud to work with Journey's End for the past 3 years administering Buffalo Through Their Eyes.  This year CEPA conducted an 8-week photographic arts education program that worked with 10 Journey's End refugee client artists, teaching photographic practices and guiding the artists in documenting their lives-including their families, schools, workplaces, and community. This annual project is an opportunity for Journey's End clients to express themselves through photography and showcase Journey's End's important work of welcoming refugees to the community.

The project includes training from CEPA teaching artists in framing and shooting photographs, exploring photographic practices and themes (including still-life, portraiture, & photo-essay) and bi-weekly discussions and critiques of the artists' work.

This year the resulting photographs will be printed and displayed at CEPA Gallery to celebrate the artists' work.  The exhibition will be on display in CEPA's FLUX and Passageway galleries from October 4 - 18.

A gala reception and fundraiser for Journey's End will be held Thursday, October 4 from 6-9 p.m. to launch the exhibition.  Tickets to this event, guest chaired by Althea Luehrson, Executive Director of Leadership Buffalo, are $30 in advance and $35 at the door.

Please consider purchasing a ticket and attending the gala event as we look to support a WNY organization doing very important work that benefits the entire region and its residents.
