RESIDENT ALIENS: CEPA GALLERY’S 2002/2003 REGIONAL RESIDENT ARTISTS

June 6, 2003 through August 16, 2003.
[ Pat Bacon ] [ Gary Cardot ] [ Jeanne Dunkle ] [ Alison Slein ]

This exciting exhibition will present solo shows by four artists who live and work in the greater Western New York region. Each artist participated in a 4-6 week residency as part of CEPA Gallery’s new Regional Residency Program. The artists were provided with an honorarium, technical and production support, access to CEPA Gallery’s darkroom and digital facilities, as well as to CEPA Gallery’s offsite live-in artist’s loft.

This new residency program was initiated to provide regional emerging and mid-career artists with access to state-of-the-art equipment, professional assistance, and funding, in order to allow for a focused period of time devoted solely to their professional artistic development. Residencies were awarded to artists stressing the creation or development of new bodies of work.

The 2002/2003 Regional Resident Artists are Pat Bacon (Lyons, NY), Gary Cardot (Erie, PA), Jeanne Dunkle (Buffalo, NY), and Alison Slein (Buffalo, NY). Each Artist has produced a new body of work for their solo exhibition. Working from different influences and in unique media, each exhibition promises to both contrast and reflect its peers, providing the viewing audience with a mini survey of regional photographic arts.
