Resident Aliens: CEPA Gallery 2002/2003 Regional Resident Artist:
[ Alison Slein ]

Artist Statement:

My most recent body of work places hand made miniature dioramas in natural landscape settings. I have always been interested in using architectural elements as metaphors for human experience. The spaces suggest a solitary serenity found in abandoned homes, while at the same time a few of the images suggest a previous destruction represented by torn out walls, floors and ceilings. The skeletal remains of living spaces reveal glorious landscape exteriors. The large scale of the completed images visually distorts the small scale of the architecture. A majority of the images are photographed in actual landscape settings using natural light.
