Invited Attention

Jean-Michel also cried a lot. His eyes would be dripping constantly as he smiled, gritting his teeth before wiping the tears away. Jean-Michel ran the gamut on emotions. He was always striving for attention and was always very showy. He enjoyed the attention he got; he always played it up, even its negative aspects.

He would go into a rage if anyone, including close friends like myself, touched any of his personal possessions. He was extremely giving and shared his affluence readily, but if you touched anything without his approval, he would fly into a short-lived rage. Although he grew to accept the commercialism of the art business, he hated his various dealers hounding him for work. Sometimes they arrived at his studio unannounced and would take what he considered unfinished work to sell in their galleries.
