CEPA Gallery and event chair Nancy J. Parisi are proud to announce that our popular Visions of Greater Buffalo will take place Thursday, November 8 in the gallery’s exhibition space at Market Arcade. This year, however, there will be some exciting changes designed to put a fresh perspective on the biennial event.
Starting this year, Visions of Greater Buffalo will become an annual event where CEPA Gallery invites 50 individuals with a unique community perspective to take up single-use Kodak cameras. These Visionaries then photograph their "vision" of the region, using their unique perspective. The resul ing film is then professionally developed, reviewed by a panel of professionals, and the best print is framed and matted for inclusion in a special exhibition that ends with a silent auction featuring all of the Visions works.
"This year we have an especially delightful and diverse group of participants," noted Sean Donaher, CEPA Gallery Executive Director. "Our Visionaries are truly representative of Greater Buffalo and come from the arts, business, sports, community service and faith-based organizations."
Continuing a trend started last year Visions of Greater Buffalo will once again invite the public to participate. The entire population of WNY will be invited to submit their vision of Greater Buffalo via email to CEPA. A new twist is that images submitted must be captured using their smart phones! All photos submitted will be streamed through Market Arcade on auction night and on the website in the weeks before and after the November 8 event. Proceeds from Visions of Greater Buffalo benefit will benefit CEPA Gallery’s internationally recognized Exhibition and Youth Education programs.
