Resident Aliens: CEPA Gallery 2002/2003 Regional Resident Artist:
[ Jeanne Dunkle ]

Artist Statement:

My intention is to examine the relationship between image and text. I believe when text is displayed with an image there is a natural tendency to establish a relationship between them. In juxtaposing the image with an unrelated word that is not overtly descriptive of the image, I am looking to initiate a dialogue causing the viewer to remember or fantasize about an event. In effect, the viewer is forcing themselves to create the scenario.

Jeanne received her BFA in Photography from the University of Buffalo. She went on to obtain her MFA in printmaking from SUNY Purchase. She is now a lecturer at the University of Buffalo in the photography department and a adjunct professor in drawing and painting at Canisius College. She resides in Snyder, NY with her husband Ben, and her children Griffin and Elias. Their third child is expected in early December.
