From July 1 - July 31, 1998 CEPA Gallery presents an exhibit of recent works by Keith Johnson at the Campos Photography Center, 1016 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda, NY, USA, (716) 837-1016

Johnson's recent photography is an investigation of the irony created by people and their interaction with the landscape. In Johnson’s work irony is created through the juxtaposition of form and subject matter. With a deft use of color, he guides the viewer through an investigation of the contradictions that exist in the urban landscape.

Johnson relates to photography as a sport and sees an intrinsic difference between first hand experience and a photograph. "Sometimes things just need to be seen as photographs to be interesting." Johnson says.

A former associate professor of photography Johnson is currently New England Sales Manager at Hasselblad, manufacturer of top of the line medium format cameras.

In conjunction with the exhibition Johnson will conduct a workshop in CEPA Gallery’s Underground Imaging Facility. The workshop takes place July 11 & 12. Participants will use Hasselblad cameras as they learn the art of medium format photography. For further information and registration details contact CEPA 856-2717.
