Andrew Johnson

just another market mop up is an installation in which predator and prey, beneficence and need conflate. For Johnson, "it critiques what many consider the natural order, the conditions and consequences of current international economic policies.” Consisting of two fiberglass life-size sharks suspended from the ceiling with schools of piranhas gliding in and out of massive mouths and audio components, Johnson is able to subtly replicate the multiple and complex levels of global economic power and exchange. Encouraging the viewer to examine the entire entity as a comical tribute to the existing situation, Johnson reminds us to look at our own responsibilities as participants in such ventures. just another market mop up will be installed in CEPA’s Flux Gallery.
