Art of Sport will feature an international group of artists working in a diversity of conceptual aesthetic modes that address the social engagement with a culture of competitive sports in the United States and abroad. Covering a dynamic range of professional, amateur, and almost un-recognized 'as sport' activities, these photography, film, and interactive media artworks will demonstrate the hype, criticism, design, and process of sports competition, body and mind development, social construction and rehabilitation through sport, real-time communication feeds (radio, tv, web) of live events, community identity, and sports tourism in the United States and abroad.

The exhibition opens on Curtain Up! Friday, September 20 with a reception for the artists and continues with a wide array of programming through the next 2 months.

Oseroff Memorial Photography Purchase Prize

CEPA Gallery is proud to be administering a new annual purchase prize on behalf of Roswell Park Cancer Institute. The Oseroff Memorial Purchase Prize is named in memory of Dr. Allan R. Oseroff, Chief of Dermatology from 1989 until his death in 2008.

Dr. Oseroff, a world-renowned expert in photodynamic therapy, had a life-long interest in photography and the visual arts. He was an empathetic physician who blended true caring with the latest scientific advances to become greatly loved by his patients and fellow staff.  The prize is supported by an endowment from grateful patients and friends with a major contribution from his wife, Dr. Stephanie Pincus, and children Ben, Tamara and Matt. The prizes are designed to enhance the environment for all members of the Roswell Community.

Each year the Oseroff Purchase Prize will be awarded to one regionally significant photographer whose artwork is identified as being of exceptionally quality.
